How to make MEP Plans for your building

MEP plans are the blueprint for your building, and they can make or break your project. You need to get them right if you want to keep costs down. So, you can ensure that everything works properly when it comes time to build. Here are some tips on how to make sure that happens:

Send the civil plans and architecture plans to the MEP engineer.

Once you have the civil plans and architecture plans, you must send them to an MEP engineer. He or she will make a layout plan based on these documents, which is what we call in construction terms a “quote” (see below).

The quote will include all costs related to installing electrical wiring and plumbing fixtures in your building. It also includes estimates for additional services such as ventilation systems and sprinkler systems—all of which can be very expensive if not done correctly!

Send the interior design plans to the MEP engineer.

Once you have your design, it’s time to send the plans to the MEP engineer. The MEP engineer will check that your plans are complete and accurate, as well as provide any input they may have on how to improve them. They’ll also be able to provide information about local building codes and regulations, which can help guide you through getting a building permit or applying for tax credits or incentives.

Commercial and industrial buildings need MEP plans because they need those documents in order to get electrical inspections done by inspectors who work with electricity companies (like electricians). MEP plans are also needed for residential buildings because homeowners want their homes inspected before buying them—and if there’s anything wrong with them (like mold), then homeowners won’t want their homes anymore!

Know the electrical systems for building you need

Once you have a clear picture of your building, it’s time to start planning.

The first step is to know the electrical systems for your building. This will be different from one building to another, but there are some things that are common across all types of buildings:

  • How many lights do I need? If a lot of people are going to be using this space at once, then consider installing more than enough lights so that they can see clearly. If not, many people will be using this space at once and only occasional visitors come through during the day (like if it’s just an office), then you don’t need as many lamps/fans/air conditioners/etcetera—and maybe even less overall if possible!
  • How many outlets do I need? Some people like having more than others do because they want their electronics close by while others prefer fewer outlets.  Because they’re afraid someone else might touch them while they’re charging something up on their desk or couch…so choose wisely!

Know the mechanical systems for building you need

Mechanical systems:

  • The mechanical systems for your building will include the plumbing and HVAC. Know the electrical requirements for these systems, as well as any special requirements of the HVAC system itself.
  • Civil plans: Civil plans are required for many MEP applications, including fire protection design and sprinkler requirements (when applicable). These documents should be included with every MEP submission package. To ensure proper coordination between mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers who may have nothing else in common aside from their need to collaborate on a project together!

Make sure all MEP plans are properly coordinated so there are no clashes later on site

Make sure all services are properly coordinated so there are no clashes later on site. The MEP engineer will coordinate all the services and make sure that the building is safe and meets code.

Get a proper design quotation for you project

  • Get a proper design quotation for you project.
  • Get quotations from different MEP engineers.
  • Make sure the MEP engineer is experienced in your project’s type of construction and materials, so that he/she can give you an accurate estimate as well as suggestions on how to improve upon it.
